Training

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

  • New Focus Introduction - a one hour (overview of a process for benevolence requests) introduction to New Focus
  • "Learning Stewardship by Living Stewardship" - a three hour training
  • "A New Focus on Benevolence and Outreach" - six hour implementation training

What Does Training Accomplish?

  • Makes the churches' vision for community outreach a reality by being open to people with needs.
  • Moves churches from "commodity-based" benevolence to a life-changing ministry.
  • Mobilizes church small groups to become outreach focused.
  • Encourages church members to examine their indebtedness and overspending habits.

When asked by the Barna Research Group to give the single most pressing issue that they face in ministry, 39% of pastors replied "outreach".

Since 1994, New Focus has trained over 300 churches from 26 denominations in 19 states to improve their benevolence effectiveness.

What New Focus training allows the church to accomplish?

New Focus trains churches to enhance their benevolence management by using scripture, personal testimonies, resources, personal relationships, and materials to:

  • Find out at intake where people are spiritually.
  • Become financial coaches without being overwhelmed by the demands of those in need.
  • Mobilize small groups for service.
  • Strengthen volunteer's ability to articulate and share their own spiritual experiences.
  • Raise the issue of financial stewardship and discipline for the whole church, not just for those in an obvious financial crisis.
  • Keep effective benevolence ministry working, when church leadership changes occur.

Concepts based on Matthew 10: 5-10:
