WHAT ARE GOOD GIFTS? 

"If you, then, though you are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"  Matthew 7:11

What makes a gift good?  Good gifts are something that:

  • You cherish
  • You need or want
  • Increase in value as time goes on
  • Remind you of the love shown to you
  • _________________________________________________

Fill in the blank with what you think makes a gift good.  If your gifts are to represent what Christ gave to us, love is more important than the dollar amount.  Think of a gift that you received a long time ago that is still precious to you.  Why is it precious?  Who gave it to you?  Did they sacrifice something so you could have it?

It is important to think about what good gift you could give to each person on your list.  My parents said one of the best gifts that they received was a basket with envelopes in it with each month on the outside.  They would open the envelope in the month listed to see what someone in the family would do with them during that month.  Be creastive with some of your gifts. 

Make a list for where you can plan your giving.  Include the name of the person(s), the occasion, what the gift will be, the dollar amount, and if it will be homemade or bought.

What is the greatest gift given to mankind?  God's love!  It has increased in value to people who first are introduced to that kind of love.  The more you learn about God's love the more you realize what Jesus sacrificed for that gift.  God gave His Son to this world so eternal life is available to all that believe it.  Now that is a GOOD GIFT!

Steps I Can Take to Make My Life Better......

  • Share my love for Jesus and tell _________ what He has done for me.
  • Make a list of the good gifts God has given to me.
  • Tell my children about a good gift that I have received.
  • Make a coupon book filled with coupons for hugs, a night out, picnics, babysitting, dinner, cakes, pies, etc.
  • Make a book of pictures with captions to give to someone.
  • Learn or teach a craft that could be used for a gift.
  • Make a list of gifts I want to give so I can be more organized.
  • Decide how much I will spend on each person, using only what I have saved.
